Kicked off LittleGreenFootballs

Apprently the management at LittleGreenFootballs does not like dissent, or maybe it's just that I called into question its theory that the Killian memos were created in MS Word.

We now know that they were not.

When I posted these links to LGF and suggested that LGF might want to retract its story, my account was deleted.

Now the really funny thing is that LGF has closed down new registrations. I guess it's afraid that I'll re-register under a different name. Wow, a major right wing blog hiding from me!

CBS just apologised.

girlieman, did you also post as killian on lgf?

You can always come debate with us, btw, we won't ban you. And we're LGFers too.

"CBS just apologised."

So it did.

"girlieman, did you also post as killian on lgf?"

I did not post under two user names and have discussions with myself. Charles can look at the logs. If, after Charles deleted the Girlieman account, I still wanted to participate in LGF (and I don't), I would have to create a new account. If I were to do that, it would not be posting under two accounts, would it.

What did Killian post anyway and why did you think it was me?

"You can always come debate with us, btw, we won't ban you. And we're LGFers too."

O joy.

"O joy"

LOL!!! Oh, come on, you and I have never talked before.

:-)

I'm sorry girlieman, I really haven't followed your LGF adventure so I don't really know what went on there, I just saw you on my blog when you addressed Powderfinger.

The reason I asked you if you posted as Killian (and I don't know what killian said either, I wasn't there, didn't follow the discussion) is Charles seemed to think you were both the same person. So maybe this is why you got banned. I'll get you the link: LGF thread.

Look at comment #96 first and Charles's comment is #105.

That's why I thought maybe you were the same person. Doesn't it sound like Charles thinks so?

Fair enough. What's your handle on LGF?

"Look at comment #96 first and Charles's comment is #105."

Beagle said I'll give odd that Girlieman is Killian and Charles said he (Beagle) would clean up with those odds.

But this doesn't say what did Killian posted

"That's why I thought maybe you were the same person. Doesn't it sound like Charles thinks so?"

Sure, and also a couple of others too according to comments on your blog site.

But we're getting off topic. I have no hard feelings toward you. What's Charles's problem?

I don't know what other people said and other people who, in my comments, accused you or questioned you of being more than one person, did so on their own. But doesn't it sound like Charles also thought you were killian?

I gave you the link so you could see for yourself what killian said, I honestly have no idea and not much time to look it up.

Here's my take on LGF: I read LGF for about a year before I posted there. It can be intimidating sometimes because a lot of the posters are very knowledgeable and they ask for facts. In other words if you have a differing point of view, be prepared to back it up.

All LGFers don't think the same way, don't even have the same political beliefs, readers are from all over the world and as I said, most people know their stuff.

I've been flamed and fact-checked on LGF. It wasn't the end of the world. Instead of reacting or knee-jerking I thought for a moment about what the other person said. When I was right I provided facts to back my statement and when I was wrong I admitted that I was wrong. I don't see anything difficult in that. But here's what I've gotten out of LGF: knowledge and a wonderful sense of community and family. People who I thought were intimidating turn out to have a wicked sense of humour and would give you the shirt off their back if you asked.

And we fight between ourselves too, girlieman. Don't think we don't ;-)

Anyway, I still don't know what the fight was about. If you want to tell me, I'll come back and listen.

:-)

Yes, we've already established that Charles thought I was Killian. Where does that get us? Were Killian and I posting at the same time? Were we having conversations with each other? What does Killian have to do with anything? From what I can tell, Killian posted after I was banned.

"I gave you the link so you could see for yourself what killian said, I honestly have no idea and not much time to look it up."

Time to find the link and post it, but no time read what it links to? Why does that sound odd? It does not link to any post by Killian.

"Here's my take on LGF: I read LGF for about a year before I posted there. It can be intimidating sometimes because a lot of the posters are very knowledgeable and they ask for facts. In other words if you have a differing point of view, be prepared to back it up."

They ask for facts *only* if you have a differing point of view, and they ask for facts as a tactic for avoiding discussion. E.g. "Don't you feel that the record deficits we are incurring are a problem down the road" response "please post some facts to substantiate that claim"

ok, what's the quibble here? Is it the word "record" which is unrelated to the gist of the post.

On the other hand, if someone posts something along the lines of "the economy is booming" there is no demand from anyone for "facts."

"All LGFers don't think the same way, don't even have the same political beliefs, readers are from all over the world and as I said, most people know their stuff."

I don't know about that. A lot of people advocating destruction of muslim culture didn't seem to know the different between the Wahabists in Saudi Arabia and the islam practiced in Bangladesh. and that was the prevailing mind set, believe me.

Nor do I accept that calling people idiot and troll for posting an opposing opinion the hallmark of people who "know their stuff."

Finally, there are about 30 right wingers for every one moderate/independent/leftie, so I wouldn't consider it a model of diversity.

"I've been flamed and fact-checked on LGF. It wasn't the end of the world. Instead of reacting or knee-jerking I thought for a moment about what the other person said. When I was right I provided facts to back my statement and when I was wrong I admitted that I was wrong. I don't see anything difficult in that."

No quarrel from me on any of the above. The post that got me banned contained two links to web sites that backed up my point of view.

"But here's what I've gotten out of LGF: knowledge and a wonderful sense of community and family. People who I thought were intimidating turn out to have a wicked sense of humour and would give you the shirt off their back if you asked."

I'll have to take your word for it.

"And we fight between ourselves too, girlieman. Don't think we don't ;-)"

yeh, like whether to nuke all muslims or use conventional weapons?

"Anyway, I still don't know what the fight was about. If you want to tell me, I'll come back and listen."

There was no fight. I posted the two links that appear in this article and Charles banned me for "spamming" his web site. His site, his rules. I accept that.

You came on my site and asked Powderfinger to go tell Charles whatever. I had come upon the thread I gave you and linked to it. What's so odd about it? You can do a search on LGF and find killian. I honestly don't have time for that.

"There was no fight. I posted the two links that appear in this article and Charles banned me for "spamming" his web site."

So are you saying you only wrote one comment with the two links and you got banned? Hmmm... That doesn't sound like LGF at all. You didn't talk with any of the LGFers? 'Cause it seemed to me that you and Powderfinger had maybe talked on LGF since you came and addressed him on my blog.

Damn, girlieman, I'll have to go read that thread now. You got me curious.
;-)

btw, I learned about moderate Muslims on LGF. I hadn't thought they were any but several LGFers pointed out to me sane and moderate Muslim voices. So we don't just sit there and debate whether to nuke or use conventional weapons.

Also, was that your first time on LGF?

GirlieMan said...

I said there was no fight. The comment with the two links was a comment to the article and not in response or directed to any LGF member.

"You didn't talk with any of the LGFers? 'Cause it seemed to me that you and Powderfinger had maybe talked on LGF since you came and addressed him on my blog."

I don't know what you mean by "talk with LGFers." I posted comments and sometimes commented on other comments.

"btw, I learned about moderate Muslims on LGF. I hadn't thought they were any but several LGFers pointed out to me sane and moderate Muslim voices."

Here's a comment that was pretty typical of the LGF consensus about Islam:

"If you study the Koran and Hadith you'll quickly realize that:

a) Muhammad was a psychopath.
b) The "religion" he invented is thoroughly polluted with his personality.

"Things like Columbine are not expressions of Christian, or even secular humanist, ethics---they are the result of abandoning such ethics. Christians in particular have the example of Jesus to set them straight when they go astray (He's often ignored unfortunately).

"Islam, on the other hand, is hateful from top to bottom, and they have the example of Muhammad to emulate (He's often obeyed unfortunately). Since Muhammad was, as I wrote, a psychopath, inhumanity is part and parcel of Islam. Bin Laden and those headchoppers in Iraq are good Muslims going by the book. Not bigotry, just a fact."

Here's the thread.

"Also, was that your first time on LGF?"

I registered on 9/16. I probably started commenting same day. I'm only in a half dozen threads. This was the first one:

Charles is a petty little man.

Prior to registration Charles would ban by blocking ISP's.

He couldn't block mine because I was on AOL, so he banned all AOL users from accessing LGF.

After he went to registration, I signed up and was promptly banned again.

I couldn't post, but I did lurk and leave him messages in his searcxh function (which he obsessively pores over).

Now he's blocked me from accessing his site altogether.

I still get around it though.
